Smith cousins

Our Smith cousins Jonas, Ian and Audrey just moved to Wisconsin this past weekend. The day before they moved Ammon had Jonas over to play. I was able to get some cute cousin pictures of them together. Ammon and Jonas are only 2 1/2 months apart in age and LOVE playing together, even if they do get roudy sometimes:)

The day we had Ammon's party we took pictures of the grandparents with all their grandkids.

Rebecca and Audrey are about 5 months apart. Rebecca loves to play with Audrey (aka-touching her hair, holding her hands and poking her)and when they get older they will probably love to play with eachother, for now it's lots of watching and grabbing eachother.

Army Man Ammon

If Ammon could wear camouflage from head to toe every day he would. For his birthday Uncle Justin got him a short sleeve camo shirt and shorts. (He was wearing a fleece jacket and pants in the summer heat.) Almost everyday he has something camo on. I think it's fun when they get into their stages to go along with it. When he was so into Firefighters, we bought every firefighter book we could find in town, and he wore his fireman outfit nearly everyday. Now it's camouflage and army men.
We might almost be even with camo clothes as we have Star Wars clothes in our house right now-hard to believe. His latest addition-camo shoes.

These were taken up in the forest at Lemme. These are also the woods that he watered and told me "dad says we can pee in the forest if we really need to go." Dad told me he did NOT tell Ammon that one!

What better game to play while dressed in an army man outfit then Battleship.

Walking to Grandma and Grandpa's house Ammon disappeared in this grass that was so incredibly long.

I got the boys matching "Heavy Metal" tank shirts. Ammon has inherited Simeon's out of love of it, so he now has 2 of the same shirts, so we seem to see it 2 times as much.

FYI-Ammon decided he was done with his fireman outfit and put it in the garage sale. It sold the right away. Now another little boy who loves firefighters is wearing it everyday loving it. I was alittle sad getting rid of it, but I know it is getting loved somewhere else and that makes it easier to part with. I think it's partly hard for me because I really want to hold onto my preschool Ammon-I'm not ready for him to go to kindergarten. I'm holding harder to him then the others, not sure why-but I am. Why can't he just stay little?

Rebecca at 1 year

Rebecca is a whole year old, 52 weeks, 365 days old. My baby is a year old, and soon to be a toddler.

The past month she has gone from having a single tooth (or "fang" as we called it) to having 6 teeth. She didn't have any problems or pain with the teeth coming in.

Her hair is continuing to grow. It is continuing to stay light brown. Her birthmark on her head is completely covered and the one of the back of her neck still shows as the hair hasn't grown that long yet.

She is so close to walking, but just won't walk more then 4 or 5 steps with lots of encouragement. She stands up on her own alot. She can stand up, then squat down and stand back up. She loves to push her stroller and push car. She can climb on and off of it and walk around it.

She loves to eat, but she doesn't like milk. She stopped nursing a few days before her birthday, and it's been a struggle to get her to drink enough. We started mixing a little chocolate or strawberry syrup into her milk and she'll drink some then. Mostly she prefers apple or cherry juice diluted. We got her some straw sippy cups that she loves to drink from. It helped her to drink more. Since she has teeth, she can now take bites off of things.

Rebecca loves to be outside. She squeals when we go near the door, and cries if we don't take her outside. She still likes to stand at the front door and look out. She can swing for such a long time, and giggles and smile when the kids push her and tickle her feet. She really enjoyed all the time spent outside at Simeon's baseball games. She likes playing in the dirt and pulling out the grass.

She is such a jabber girl. She has been working on sounds, and will repeat them over and over, mostly in the van. She loves to say momma, dadda, baby, doggie, hi.

Rebecca has shown us this past month how good of a climber she is. She climbs up the boys ladder whenever she can get to it. She climbs on the play table, on the couch if she can step on our leg. She has also learned to get down from things. He favorite thing to climb on is the treadmill. She looks like she's playing "Queen of the treadmill". My mom called her Sweetpea from Popeye and that name fits her perfectly. She's small, quiet (when she's going where she shouldn't be) and climbs where you least expect it.

If the kids take something from her, she will yell at them and start crying until she gets it back and then she's fine. She has also thrown a few tantrums. She'll crawl away, then drop her head to the ground and cry, then look up at you. It's cute-right now. She knows how to get what she wants. We are working on trading, which she is really good at. We play give and take games that she really likes.

She is a book worm who knows how to thumb through books on her own. She loves to look at pictures in book or magazines, and if she gets a pencil or marker-she'll make lines on paper.

She has started laughing more often. Ammon and her will crawl after each other around the table. Rebecca turns back and when she sees him coming, starts laughing and crawls the other way. This can go on for awhile with them going back and forth chasing each other. She also loves peek-a-boo.

She has started to imitate us. She puts hats on her head and necklaces around her neck. She LOVES remotes, so we have an old tv remote and wii remote that are Rebecca's. She can push as many buttons and she feels involved.

I took these pictures the 1st time I took this car out for her. She loved in and spent at least an hour going in and out of it. Her biggest smiles came when she saw dad pulling into the driveway. She was so cute exploring every inch of the car.

She discovered that swimming is alot of fun!! YAY

I love to see her sit like this, with her sweet little toes sticking out behind her.

It's been an amazing year of growth. She'll soon start walking and turn into a toddling little lady, then a runner lady. Then watch out world!!

Rebecca is 1 year old

It's hard to believe that a year ago we held Rebecca in our arms for the 1st time. (The year has gone by way too fast if you ask me.) She is such a sweet girl with a huge smile and love of her family.

We celebrated a week early so that the Smith family could celebrate with us, so her actual birthday was quiet. She got her 1st car that she loves being pushed around in, ate star pancakes and made flag cakes for dessert. We also went and saw Great Grandma Riddle, and finished the night off with fireworks.

She loved her cake and dug right into it. She enjoyed every messy bite of it!

At her doctors apt she weighed in at 18lbs 4oz and was 27" long. She is an amazing climber and is so fast at crawling. She is timid to walk, but can stand on her own and even get up on her own in the middle of a room. She has so much to say and loves to wave and say 'hi' to people, dogs, birds, cars-really anything. She is definitely a momma and daddy's girl, but gives out smiles so freely to everyone she sees.

It has been so fun to watch her learn and discover new things. What an absolute joy our Rebecca Lucy (aka Ra-Doodles) is!

Rebecca's 1st Birthday and 4th of July

Today we got to celebrate a whole year with our sweet Rebecca Lucy, or Ra-Doddle as the kids lovingly call her. What an amazing year it has been too. It's been fun to have the time to sit and watch as she growns, learns, discovers, developed her personality (complete with tantrums), and got us all wrapped around her little finger. We all love having Rebecca in our family-what a sweet girl she is.

She woke us this morning to find a pink car in the front room just for her. She crawled right into it, and Corrine gave her a ride around.

For breakfast we had star pancakes with blueberries and strawberries. She discovered the sweetness of whipcream with her pancakes. She thought her candle was better then the food on her plate!

The kids were really sweet finding presents from thier beloved toys that they thought Rebecca would like. Corrine kept wrapping more presents for her. She ended up with 2 dolls and a book. Simeon wrapped up Mortimor the alligator that he got her from camp. Ammon gave her a Winnie the Pooh book. We got her a pool, and the car was from grandparents.

After church we went to vist Great Grandma Riddle. Rebecca drove her car in and was quite the hit. Residents kept coming over to say hi.

Since we had already done the big get messy cake last weekend and it was the 4th of July, we made individual flag cakes. We made a homemade pound cake, cut it into slices, topped it with whipcream and the kids made flags on them with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. They turned out really cute and tasted great!!

It started raining really hard late evening, and we didn't think there would be fireworks, so we put Rebecca to bed. She got woken up so we decided to go for a drive and see if fireworks were happening. We drove to a parking ramp downtown and watched them from there. The boys got to sit on the top of the van which was scarey and exciting for them. I didn't have the camera because we didn't think we'd see fireworks so I have no picture of her there.

We feel so lucky to have such a sweet little girl in our family. Happy 1st Birthday Rebecca Lucy-we Love You!!

A proud Moment

Tonight Simeon had a baseball game against the Cubs. The Cubs are the 2nd place team and Simeon's team (The Cardinals) is in 5th place. It was a very well played game by both teams. Lots of great hits, catches and running. There were also some blown calls by the umpire, and honestly there were more against us then them.
8:15 came and the announcment that no more innings could start was heard. The inning ended and we were tied. The coaches decided to play another inning to have a "winner". We got up to bat, got another 2 runs in, then in was their turn up. We fielded poorly and they got 3 runs in to win the game.
Simeon was upset-you could see it in his body language, but he high fived the other team will a smile on his face.
After the game he really wanted a piece of pizza and it was now 8:45 and I said Ok (usually I say no way). One our way to the snack stand we walked by a boy from the other team. Simeon walked over to him and said "Good job!" Then again, and again he went out of his way to tell kids from the other team "good job!". On our walk out of the park he even told a coach from their team "good job coach!" I was so proud of him for being such a good player even when his team lost. I wasn't so thrilled with how thier coaches acted when they won, (and didn't feel like saying good job to them) but Simeon looked past that and was so kind to them.
I was so proud of how wonderful of a player he was today!

The comings and going of teeth

We've had a busy month in our house with teeth. Some falling out and some coming in.
Corrine lost her 1st tooth on June 6th-the afternoon before the last day of 1st grade. She wanted to lose a tooth in 1st grade and was so excited that it finally happened. (We have late tooth getters and losers in our family.)

There's a story behind how it FINALLY fell out. It's been lose for honestly 8 months, but not until the last 6 weeks or so was it really lose. The adult tooth started growing in under it, but then started coming in behind it which made it hard to wiggle, and it also wasn't pushing it out. It was the afternoon before the last day of school. Corrine and Ammon were throwing a tennis ball around in the backyard. Corrine missed catching the ball and it hit her in the mouth. She came in crying. Johann said her tooth was about to fall out, so she grabbed it and it came out! Ammon was proud that he got to help her with losing her 1st tooth and Corrine got to go tot he last day of school and proudly show off her gap.

Now on the other hand little miss Rebecca has FINALLY cut through some teeth. She's had swollen gums for months and you could even feel the teeth ( 6 of them) under the gums, but they just wouldn't come through. This past month she has gotten 4 teeth. She started with a "fang", then she got her bottom front teeth last week, and her other "fang" just broke through this past weekend. Her two front top teeth are looking close, but aren't there yet.
