First we learned why we have leap year. Every year is 365 1/4 days. There are 6 extra hours in a year, so every 4 years we have an extra day to off set those yearly extra 6 hours. They kids thought it was pretty funny that if we didn't add in the extra day every 4 years, then Christmas would end up in July.
The kids made "leap" frogs to celebrate the day.
