Coronado

We decided on our last day in San Diego to go hit the beach again. This time we headed to Coronado near the Hotel Del to soak up the sun.

The kids soon discovered that the ocean was full of jelly fish body parts. There were pieces of jelly fish on the beach too. Because of the jelly fish the kids didn't want to play in the water very much. Who could blame them, getting touched by the stingers could hurt.

The kids did lots of digging in the sand instead. They loved that they could make huge holes for them to fit in so easily.

I decided that I couldn't be at the beach twice in one week and not boogie board. I couldn't convince any kids or Johann  to come out with me because of the jelly fish, so I went solo. I didn't last long though. The jelly fish parts, sea weed and sea grass was freaking me out and I came in after only 3 waves.

Johann and I went on a walk and were lucky to find a couple of whole sand dollars. One we saw just laying on the beach and the other we saw tumbling in the tide and snatched it before the tide could wash it back out.

Johann spent alot of time standing in the water looking out at the waves wearing the straw hat Jake gave him. He told us he couldn't come in because his feet were stuck in the sand!

I love being at the beach. The warmth of the sun and sand and the sound of the waves makes me want to move back to the coast.

Liberty Park & Point Loma

We started the day off at Liberty Park near the San Diego Airport. We grabbed In-N-Out near there and ate before heading to the park to play. Rebecca was all into posing for me on the dolphin and running around the playground with Zach. She loves to look at the picture of her and Luke going down the slide and say "He's staring at me mom!"

After playing at the park we headed up to the visitors center at Point Loma. Our kids were excited to do the Junior Ranger Program there and earn another badge. All the cousins decided to do it too. It took a long time for Camille & Simeon to finish their badges since they had the most to do. All the cousins were SUPER excited to earn their badges. This was Rebecca's 1st badge earned and she was over the moon excited!

After getting their badges we headed down to the tidepools. When we got there the parking lot was packed. Luckily we were able to get a parking spot. The tide was at it's lowest point when we got there so we were able to explore more of the area. The kids found lots of crabs to look at.

Ammon and Tanner started playing in the water more than exploring. Tanner was really funny. He didn't want to get his socks wet, so he took them off and put them in his pocket, but kept on his tennis shoes!
Simeon & Sam joined in the fun. At first they just were getting their feet wet, but that wasn't enough. They wanted to get their knees wet, then it was shorts getting wet, splashing each other and finally our boys were wet up to their armpits and smiling from ear to ear. Rebecca wanted to join the fun in the waves, but she didn't want to get as wet as the boys.

As we left we got a quick picture of our family. We have a picture of our family way back when in a similar area when Simeon was 3 and Corrine was still a baby.

The cemetery on top of the hill in Point Loma is beautiful. The cemetery looks down on the bay and is a fitting place for those who were in the Navy to be laid to rest.

Cabrillo State Park in Point Loma is a beautiful peaceful place. You can see so much from up there. Even though your near the busy city, when your here you're a step away from it all.

Mission Beach

Today we headed to Mission Beach to play in the sand, jump in the waves and soak up the warm sun with all our cousins, aunts, uncles, Nani & Papa. This was Rebecca's 1st time at the beach and she was in love with all the sand, but the waves were a bit intimidating to her. The last time we were at the beach Simeon had a cast on his right arm that couldn't get wet, and we promised him we'd get back to the beach and we did it just took us over 4 years!

Simeon, Ammon and Tanner were big into boogie boarding. They spent alot of time in the water catching the waves. They were also busy digging a tunnel that they could fit through. They got the tunnel made and Ammon crawled through in, Simeon sat through it and then it got walked on it and caved in. They were bummed, but went with it and decided to get buried in the hole instead.

I forgot how much a love to beach. I love burying my feet in the warm sand and feeling the sun warm me to the core!
