Tight waistbands, high waters and holes in the knees prompted me to get all the boxes of clothes out (ok-Johann did the heavy lifting) so that I could find Ammon some pants that would fit him. It was after about a dozen boxes that came out that we made the discovery of where the next size of boys clothes were. Ammon is now thankfully wearing clothes that fit so much better. He thought it was Christmas to get a full box of new clothes!!
When all the boxes were pulled out we ended up with 21 boxes downstairs and 4 boxes upstairs. 25 boxes of outgrown clothes-OVERWHELMING-to go through and put into a better order. Thankfully a good chunk of the smallest clothes are very organized, but once they hit 2T they're more mixed up, and require more work to get totally boxed up right.
I've been in a purging mood, so not all of the clothes will be being kept. A swap night later this week at church gives me a deadline to get these boxes cleaned out.

we have the same system! we use the clear sterilite bins and my labelmaker. we have 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18, 18-24, 2t, 3t, 4t, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9+ bins! GAH! it's a pain to organize them, but it's soooo worth it, especially with four girls! i keep an empty bin in my closet and just toss all of the to-small and out-of-season clothes in there. when it's full, i have berek help drag all of the bins out of the garage and it's time to resort everything!
Wow, 25 boxes! That's impressive. Good luck organizing all of it. I'm excited to see what you bring to the swap night:)
WOW, that's a lot of clothes!! I was a seller this weekend at our first kid's consignment sale event and can't wait until the fall to sell again! Do you have anything like that there? You can make $$$ and it was really fun too :) The swap meet idea is great too :)
