Each year the STAT Ambassadors, Alumni Association and Make A Wish invite wish kids and their families to a Hawkeye Game. This years game was an 11:05 kickoff, so we had a party before and after the game.
Before the game we had lunch and the kids got to play games, jump in the jump house and meet Herky.
Then we went to the game. We had seats in the North End bleachers. We were on the top row so we had room behind us and even a bar to lean against. Simeon sat down on the field level with his friend Cameron. Rebecca slept the entire game in the front carrier, and Corrine & Ammon watched the game and played by us. We got a large popcorn and the container it came in provided so much entertainment for the kids. If anything dropped under the bleachers, they'd go retrieve it. We were very impressed that we made it through the entire game.
After we went back for an ice cream social. We were able to meet the cheerleaders, and they did some of their cheers and holds for us.
Then the football players came to sign autographs and to take pictures with the kids. The players were getting ready to take the picture with the kids. I asked one player if he wanted to hold Rebecca. He shook his head and said 'no' real nervously. So I asked if anyone else would. 5 or 6 guys all said "I will!" The players were all very nice to the kids making sure they signed every ones posters and talking with the kids.
Simeon was so excited to throw a few passes with the players while they were at the party.
Each year the kids go home with all sorts of goodies. This year was no exception. We got a Hawkeye football themed cookie basket with Simeon's name on the football from Cookies & More, a Hawkeye shirt and a bag of other goodies including lots of certificates for free food at Texas Roadhouse. YUM!
